- Estimate/measure the size of the pile of waste you will create.
- Measure the length, width, and height
- Multiply the length times the width times the height
- Divide the total of this calculation
- This will give you the amount of cubic yards of waste material you have and therefore, tell you what size container you need.
- Rule of thumb/Insurance policy: Whatever you calculate or think it is, add at least 5 yards to the total. This will provide room for error, forgotten about items, and other items that may take up more space than originally thought.
